King's Warriors Varsity

SPRING 2024

We are very excited about this fall season and honored that you would consider joining us.

Practices are every Monday & Thursday  (typically Mondays at Hilldale Community Park near Talcott; Thursdays at Camp Gilead EXCEPT the beginning of the season we will practice Mondays at Countryside Baptist Church gym-indoors so wear tennis shoes, and Thursdays at Hilldale Community Part for a the first few weeks). Practices usually run from 5:30 pm on and include team meeting and devotions (you will be expected to stay the entire time until you are dismissed by coaches.).

We ask that players arrive as early as possible for any preliminary needs (changing clothes, restroom, stretching, warmups, etc.) so that practices can begin at 5:30 pm sharp; they will be intense and functional, always preparing for game situations. Please be at practices and games on time or contact us if you will be late or cannot come.

Come to practices prepared. Always bring water, shin guards, and two (2) pairs of training shoes – 1 pair of cleats for outdoor, and 1 pair of indoor shoes (in case weather or field conditions force us to play indoors).

Always keep in mind that the King’s Warriors Soccer Club is a ministry of The Nehemiah Group, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and Countryside Baptist Church. Our mission is “to glorify God and serve others.” In fulfilling that mission, it is our desire to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to every participant. We want to help you grow and develop not only as soccer players, but as outstanding citizens as well. We stress the following five areas.

  1. Commitment – arrive on time for practice; stay till practice ends (including devotional time); be present and prepared for games.

  2. Responsibility – take care of your paperwork, and equipment.

  3. Respect – respect parents, fans, coaches, referees, and players – young and old, teammates and opponents.

  4. Leadership – older players will be expected to assist in the development of skills and confidence of younger players.

  5. Service –opportunities include helping with field preparation (lining fields, flags, goals, cleanup); set up and storage of equipment for practices and games; coaching younger players; refereeing and coaching younger players’ games.

Please consider your conduct.

  • No abusive or foul language.

  • No possession or use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products.

  • Dress modestly; wear only team uniform (jersey, shorts, and socks as provided) for games.

  • No loud and/or offensive music.

Our Philosophy in Scripture

KING - We serve the King of kings.

The Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting King.  Jeremiah 10:10.

The Lord is King for ever and ever.  Psalm 10:16.

Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God. Psalm 5:2.

For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.  Psalm 74:12.

Unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever…Jesus

                Christ…is…the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords….  I Timothy 1:17, 6:14, 15.

WARRIORS – We are called to stand and fight for truth in a dark and dying world.

.…a time of war, and a time of peace.  Ecclesiastes 3:8.

He gathered…chosen men, which were warriors, to fight….  II Chronicles 11:1.

No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen

him to be a soldier.  II Timothy 2:4.

Let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand...  Psalm 149:6.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. II Corinthians 10:4.

SOCCER (sports) – God frequently used sports metaphors to convey a message.

He will surely…toss thee like a ball.  Isaiah 22:18.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. I Corinthians 9:24.

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the

Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk; and

                not faint.  Isaiah 40:30, 31.

                (Wrestling.)  Ephesians 6:10-18.

…Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our

faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne

               of God.  Hebrews 12:1, 2.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith…  II Timothy 4:7.

CLUB – We need each other.

Two are better than one…For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow…And if one prevail against him, two

shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.  Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10, 12.

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up.  Jeremiah 22:29.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.  John 13:35.

Show mercy and compassions every man to his brother.  Zechariah 7:9.

He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to

love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?  Micah 6:8.

If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. And he took a child, and set him

in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my

name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.  Mark 9:35b-37.

But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles

exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall

             not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of

man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for

             many.  Matthew 20:25-28.
