King’s Warriors End Regular Season with Back-to-Back Wins

Updated: Nov 5, 2020

The King’s Warriors Soccer Club ended their regular season with a 7-2-1 record.

On October 17, they traveled to Lewisburg to play Lewisburg Baptist Academy. Chance Blevins scored two goals and Isaac Beckett added one for a 3-1 win. In the JV game that followed, Jake Dickens scored twice and Marley Stoneback once to record their first King’s Warriors goals, while goalkeeper Johnny Wheeler posted his first shutout in a 3-0 win. The Lewisburg team came to the Warriors’ home field on October 24. Chance Blevins got things going early as he scored the first of his two goals, followed by a brace by Ailena Bezek. Jake Dickens turned in his fourth shutout of the season to ensure the 4-0 win.

The JV teams then took the field for one of the most exciting games of the season. LBA scored two goals in the first half, while the young King’s Warriors squandered multiple opportunities. Jake Dickens, playing center midfield for the JV team, finally scored to bring his team within one. He tied the match late in the game with his second goal. Not wanting to leave with a tie, both teams agreed to go directly to penalty kicks per FIFA rules. The LBA shooters converted only one shot, while Jonah Blevins, Jake Dickens, Brody Young, and Sydney Stover all converted from the spot to claim the 4-1 penalty kick win after the 2-2 regulation time stalemate.

The King’s Warriors now focus on their 9th straight NACA tournament in Dayton, TN, Oct. 28-30.
