King’s Warriors Take Down Huntington St. Joe’s

Updated: Oct 27, 2020

St. Joseph’s Central Catholic High School of Huntington, WV, came to Greater Beckley Christian School on October 8 to take on the King’s Warriors. The two teams had met only once before, and that was several years ago. The Irish took home a lop-sided victory then, but it was all King’s Warriors this time around.

Isaac Beckett opened the scoring just two minutes after the opening kickoff. Attacking from the start, the King’s Warriors were rewarded with a corner kick. Ailena Bezek delivered it beautifully, and Beckett headed it home. The Warriors failed to connect any more during the first half, but Keatley Michael scored what proved to be the winning goal early in the second. Chance Blevins then beat the Irish defense twice to provide a comfortable 4-0 lead. Substituting freely in the latter part of the game, every King’s Warrior got playing time. The defense relaxed a bit early to allow St. Joe’s a goal in the final minute. That made the final score 4-1, and robbed goal keeper Jake Dickens of his fourth shutout.

The King’s Warriors will play Lewisburg Baptist Academy away Oct. 17, and home Oct. 24, as they tune-up for the NACA Tournament Oct. 28-30 at Dayton, TN.
