Devotion #6 Fall 2017 The Life of David: David’s Terrible Sin

Updated: Apr 18, 2020

David was a great man. But, like all of us, he was a sinner. The Bible says, “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).Sin is doing something we shouldn’t, or not doing something we should.

David’s terrible sin is recorded in II Samuel, chapter 11. When King David should have been leading is army, he stayed home at Jerusalem. He got romantically involved with another man’s wife. This sin led to more sins, and God was very displeased with David.

David finally realized the terribleness of his sin, and prayed for God’s forgiveness. God forgave him, but David suffered great pain and loss because of his sin.

We need to realize that we will be faced with difficult choices in life. Decide right now that you will choose right ways and follow God.

Memory verse:

“…choose you this day whom ye will serve;…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” - Joshua 24:15
