NACA Bound

The King’s Warriors’ final NACA tune up game was a lackluster performance. KWSC traveled to Covington, VA, to meet the New Castle Knights on October 19. The Warriors controlled much of the run of play, but had trouble scoring as the Knights threw up a stiff defense inside the 18.

The Warriors played catch-up the entire game. After falling behind 1-0, Chance Blevins equalized. The Knights took a 2-1 half-time lead just before the whistle. KWSC came out more determined in the second half, and Ailena Bezek knotted the game quickly when she tapped in a deflected corner kick. The Knights took their final lead deep in the second half. With seconds ticking away, it looked like they might hold on for a 3-2 win. But with only two minutes left to play, Caleb Okes salvaged the 3-3 tie with a long range blast as he pressed up from his left back position.

The King’s Warriors will have four days off to rest up in anticipation of their eighth straight NACA appearance. They will meet teams from Maryland and North Carolina on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in pool play. The results of those games will determine their divisional play on Thursday and Friday.
