King’s Warriors Win Season Opener

King’s Warriors Win Season Opener The King’s Warriors Soccer Club got off to a great start on Tuesday, March 10, when they traveled to Virginia to take on the Narrows High School Green Wave.

Chance Blevins opened the scoring in the first quarter with what proved to be the game winner. The Warriors tenacious attack put so much pressure on the Narrows defense that they then gave up two own goals. Then, just before half-time, Ariana Burks scored with a beautiful shot to the right low corner.

In the second half, Chance Blevins scored two more goals to complete his hat trick, and Caleb Okes added one for a convincing 7-0 win.

New King’s Warriors Keatley Michael and Angel Taylor gave tremendous support from their right forward and center midfield positions, while Ailena Bezek, Josh Okes and Andrew Helmick shared a lot of playing time. The defense, including Jonah Blevins, Caleb Okes, Andrew Smith, and Isaac Beckett were rock solid, and helped goal keeper Jack Spurgin start the season with a shutout.

The Narrows team is building their program. They played with a lot of heart and showed a lot of class. They had several quality athletes and will undoubtedly continue to develop.

The spring season is in limbo at present with several games already cancelled due to the Corona virus pandemic. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
