King’s Warriors Soccer Club Senior Team 2022-2023

With several of our players aging out of U-19 eligibility, and more coaches and adult mentors wanting to be involved, the King’s Warriors made plans to include older teams. Several of our more experienced players were also invited to play up.

FALL, 2022

The first season was fall, 2022, and included 6 games. While the senior team did not win, they were very competitive in 3 of the games. They lost to Patrick Henry College 6-1 on Sept. 10, 2022, then to Concord University reserve team twice, 7-1 and 5-1 (9/19 and 10/7). They lost to ABC once and Mt. Mission twice, all by just one goal.

FUTSAL SEASON

Under the leadership of Will Smith, the King’s Warriors were instrumental in establishing an adult winter indoor season at Appalachian Bible College. KWSC fielded 2 of 7 teams. Will Smith’s team led the league much of the season, but due to injuries, did not do well in the end-of-season tournament. The second King’s Warriors team, however, exploded down the stretch to win the league championship. The offensive power of “E” Perez, Caleb Okes, and David Blume could not be contained. And the defensive strength of BJ Spurgin, Tristan Sears, Johnny Brown, Josh Okes, and Clay Allen withstood their opponents’ attacks.

SPRING, 2023

The adult team had 3 outdoor scrimmage games in the spring, winning their first ever match 4-3 over Appalachian Bible College, while losing two very close matches to Mt. Mission.

The Senior Team is looking forward to more development, growth, and success.
